This year our biggest charity mission took place on December 16 - 18th, 2011. As a main organizer, we united the forces with a number of key organizations to create a lifetime experience for over 700 underprivileged children of Hong Kong. With the spirit of Winter and Christmas, a real Santa Claus from Lapland Finland flew to visit the underprivileged and critically sick children.
Each visit included storytelling, singing, games, exchange of Christmas cards and photo taking opportunities. With the help of over 100 volunteers and resources, we were able to bring much joy and happiness to the children, their parents, to their nurses, doctors, teachers and volunteers and all team members.
“Throughout this Santa’s visit, we hope to call out for more people to extend their help and care to those children in need, caring for our roots and future. If everyone could spare a kind heart, our world will become better.” Said Tina, General Manager of WEC.
“I think I and the children will cherish the memory for the rest of our lives. It was absolutely beautiful to see the smiles on children's faces as they saw Santa. I truly believe that together we achieved our goal of making a magical moment for the children in need.” Said Santa Claus of Lapland, Finland.
“Consulate General of Finland is very grateful for WEC’s sponsorship to bring the original and real Santa from Finland and for organizing such memorable and joyous moments for these children. It was absolutely marvelous to observe how the children received the Santa, their eyes sparkling with excitement and joy. That sight touched the heart of everyone present, and we are sure that we all will cherish that memory. Our sincere wish is to repeat this happening and make it a tradition to bring Santa from Finland to the children of Hong Kong every Christmas.” Said Ms. Marja Korhonen, Consul of Consulate General of Finland.
One school with children from underprivileged backgrounds were delighted, many parents were saying that they are very pleased with such donations as they are unable to provide for their child, they have limited resources, and having such gifts provided for their child will help them a lot, they are overwhelmed with joy.
“Children who suffer from various kinds of dyslexia and autism isolate themselves, however the event brought them together and seeing them express their feelings of happiness is elating and a very proud moment, it’s enlightening to see such changes, its definitely an impact, well done to the organizers.” Volunteer for Hope Worldwide.
